Documental “Un Gigante de Carton” en el Cine Italia

Este miércoles a las 16 hs, se proyectará en el Cine Italia el Documental “Un Gigante de Carton”, de Martín Céspedes, con la investigación de Paula Abal Medina.

El corto documental relata cómo cartoneros y cartoneras avanzaron, desde la más profunda crisis social y económica del 2001 y la expulsión del mercado formal de trabajo, en la lucha por su reconocimiento como trabajadores y en las conquistas laborales a lo largo de los años.

La organización del otro movimiento obrero comienza con esta pregunta: ¿Cuánto vale el trabajo en la sociedad del desprecio? Cada día, en todo el país, los cartoneros recuperan toneladas de materiales reciclables de lo que otros consideran basura. ¿Cómo son sus vidas? Basurales a cielo abierto, plantas de separación y tratamiento, la vida en los barrios populares son algunos de los temas que aborda el documental. 

La actividad, convocada por la Federación Argentina de Cartoneros, Carreros y Recicladores (FACCYR) en articulación con el equipo de Escobar Sostenible del Municipio, se enmarca en la inminente presentación del proyecto de Ley de Envases con Inclusión Social en el Congreso de la Nación, que impulsan desde la Faccyr y otras organizaciones ambientalistas. 

El proyecto busca establecer la Responsabilidad extendida de los productores de envases en la etapa post consumo de los mismos. Hoy en dia, no existe regulación al respecto, y los productores ponen en el mercado envases que muchas veces no se pueden reciclar, debido a su composición.

En el medio, son los recuperadores urbanos -cartoneros y cartoneras- quienes recuperan todos esos envases, para que vuelvan a las industrias que los utilizan como insumos. Este proyecto busca establecer la responsabilidad de los productores en la elaboración de los envases, y generar las bases para el cobro de una tasa ambiental, que tendrá como fin financiar los sistemas locales de reciclado en los Municipios de todo el país.

De esta forma, se espera poder replicar modelos como el de Escobar, que incorporan a las y los recuperadores urbanos locales en el sistema de reciclado. 

“Hoy, los Municipios se encuentran con el desafio de diseñar sistemas de reciclado. Hay dos opciones: o lo piensan con la inclusion de las y los compañeros recuperadores, o lo hacen con empresas privadas que nos sacan el material reciclable y nuestra fuente de ingresos” destaca Leonor Larrubur, cartonera de Escobar y referenta de la Faccyr.

“En Escobar, desde el 2017 venimos trabajando de conjunto con la Gestion para llegar a lo que hoy en dia todos los vecinos y vecinas conocen como la politica de reciclado de Escobar Sostenible. Los Municipios de todo el pais tienen que tomar este ejemplo, y pensar politicas de reciclado con Inclusion social. Con la Ley de Envases, los Municipios podrian tener financiamiento para esas poltiicas, garantizando un aporte al ambiente y puestos de trabajo para los compañero sy compañeras de todo el pais”, agrega.
