Durante 2021, la Municipalidad recuperó 531.429 kilos de materiales reciclables en la planta de Gestión Integral de Residuos Sólidos Urbanos (GIRSU) de Belén de Escobar que fueron reinsertados en la economía circular y generaron mano de obra local.
Estos residuos son recolectados periódicamente de los puntos verdes fijos y móviles que se encuentran distribuidos en el distrito y llevados a la planta GIRSU por las recuperadoras y recuperadores urbanos. Así, se retiraron 481.429 kilos de los puntos verdes fijos y otros 50.000 de los puntos verdes móviles que semanalmente recorren los barrios del partido.
