A 100 años de la aparición del periódico independiente “EL ECO DE ESCOBAR”, y un editorial premonitorio…
Por Alfredo Melidore (*). El 10 de enero de 1922 (hace 100 años) aparecía en nuestro pueblo, un periódico independiente denominado “El Eco de Escobar” ( 1 ), su director era el joven vecino Julio “Picho” Cappello.
En su primer número aparecía una más que interesante nota ( tipo editorial ), que ilustraba sobre las diversas falencias del ferrocarril que circulaba por este paraje, y se destacaba una opinión – con una enorme visión de futuro – que, entre otras cosas, así decía:
”…Pese a los reiterados pedidos que se han formulado, para que se construya (en Escobar) un paso sobre, o bajo nivel, que al mismo tiempo que disminuya el peligro del cruce de las vías, ahorre la espera frente a los largos trenes que se detienen para hacer maniobras o proveerse de agua; obstáculo que en momentos de apuro se debe salvar aún a costa de un accidente…”
Hoy, a 100 años de aquel reclamo, la tan necesaria construcción de un paso bajo nivel de las vías ferroviarias, es casi una feliz realidad, ya que desde hace varios meses se llevan a cabo, por decisión de las autoridades municipales – las obras, del primer paso bajo nivel en Escobar – a la altura del boulevard Pablo Podestá, en pleno corazón de Villa Burdet – (ver fotos de los trabajos de la obra y del dibujo, que demuestra como quedará, una vez terminado el mismo).
Realmente, podemos decir que hoy, al cumplirse el Centenario del progresista editorial de “El Eco de Escobar”, la obra solicitada esta en pleno progreso. Además, y volviendo a 1922, queda el ejemplo de la valentía de aquellos novatos periodistas escobarenses, que desde su modesto medio, exigían con su artículo, a una poderosa e influyente empresa británica.
Lo expuesto nos enseña, que el periodismo ha sido desde sus inicios, un factor fundamental para ayudar a marcar y corregir rumbos en la historia de los pueblos… y cuando decimos esto, estamos hablando de lo que se denomina: PERIODISMO INDEPENDIENTE, sí, así con mayúsculas, ese que contrasta notablemente con el “otro” periodismo, el que mucho daño le ha hecho, y en algunos casos, le sigue haciendo a la vida de ciertas comunidades.
Ese “otro” periodismo, es el que se reviste de un degradante servilismo ante ciertos poderes; a la vez que “trabaja”, por así decirlo, al mejor postor; ataca tenuemente algún hecho de corrupción, pero luego por una razón de “peso”, silencia su opinión; objeta medidas de algunos gobernantes, hasta que esos gobernantes los “convencen” fácilmente para cambiar su postura… Bueno, habría muchos otros ejemplos de esta lamentable índole para apuntar… pero creemos que “ a buen entendedor pocas palabras ”…. Además, en nuestro país siguen existiendo unos pocos exponentes de ese periodismo que no se vende ni cambia su opinión como “veletas” al viento.
Y lo mismo ocurrió en nuestra localidad, donde tuvimos gente “honesta y honorable” de verdad, consustanciada con el periodismo comprometido con la verdad, con ideas claras, con principios cristalinos y con puntos de vista inobjetablemente sinceros, no sólo ante graves y peligrosas falencias, sino también, tratando de ayudar a corregir con su opinión, inconvenientes menores que afectaban a la comunidad toda.
En estos días iniciales de 2022, seguimos apostando a que se multipliquen los exponentes de esta calidad profesional y humana, “ …no para mal de ninguno, sino para bien de todos…” ( del «Martín Fierro« – José Hernández).

Allí supo trabajar de niño, el joven Natalio Deambrosi, quien nos contó hace más de 35 años, que la composición del mencionado quincenario, se realizaba letra por letra y que la primitiva imprenta era una emblemática máquina «Marinoni» manual.-
